בעוד ישראל עולה לגובה, והמגדלים, בעיקר באזור המרכז, מעבים ומצופפים את האוכלוסייה, ברחבי העולם מוצאים פתרונות מגורים מעט אחרים. בחרנו לרדת יחד איתכם אל מתחת לאדמה וגם להיכנס אל תוך חציבות בסלע, ולהעניק לכם הצצה אל חיים בתוך מערות. וכן, החיים האלה יכולים להיראות טוב מאוד.

אזור קפדוקיה בטורקיה, למשל, המוכרז כאתר מורשת עולמית, הוא אזור שבו מערות מגורים רבות. חלקן נחצבו בידי אדם וחלקן תוצאה של תהליכי טבע. גם באי סנטוריני שביוון חצובים בסלע בתים רבים, אך לא רק: בספרד, בניו מקסיקו ובמקומות רבים נוספים – המערה היא אפשרות מגורים לא רעה כלל וכלל.    

אבל האזורים התת קרקעיים לא משמשים רק למגורים. ברומניה, למשל, נוצל השטח של מכרה המלח לשעבר סלינה טורדה לטובת פארק שעשועים שלם, כולל אמיפתאטרון ובהלסינקי שבפינלנד ובלילבלה שבאתיופיה נחצבו כנסיות בתוך הסלע. בואו לראות את החיים המעניינים שמתחת לפני השטח.

My accommodations south of Tataouine, Tunisia. In one of the last Berber villages and yes it is a cave. I met a true genuine person here, Muhammad made me lunch and dinner every day. We did not share a common language but still became great friends. I got to watch the world cup in a ancient structure on a small TV with the whole village, everyone made me feel at home. Temppeliaukio Church A Lutheran church in the Töölö neighborhood of Helsinki. The church was designed by architects and brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen and opened in 1969. Built directly into solid rock, it is also known as the Church of the Rock or Rock Church. The church furnishings were designed by the architects.
