על רקע המתיחות הגוברת של הארי ומייגן מול התקשורת בממלכה, הזוג המלכותי יצא עם בנם הקטן ארצ'י, לחופשה פרטית בת שישה שבועות. 

על פי דיווחים זרים, הזוג החליט לקחת הפסקה רצינית מכל ענייני הארמון - את חג המולד הם חגגו בנפרד וגם מהביקור של הנשיא טראמפ בממלכה הם נעדרו. הברזה קלאסית, אם תשאלו יודעי דבר בארמון שכעת גם מספרים כי את הזמן שהרוויחו הם מבלים כנראה עם אמא של מייגן, דוריה רגלנד.

עם כל הרצון הטוב להעניק לזוג את הפרטיות שהם מבקשים, זכות הציבור לדעת היכן הם מטיילים, ועל כן, בית המלוכה פרסם הצהרה רשמית בה הודיעו כי הדוכס והדוכסית מסאסקס מבלים זמן משפחתי מחוץ לאור הזרקורים עם בנם דווקא בקנדה.

 "הם נמצאים בהפוגה ארוכה, ולמיטב ידיעתי לא נראה אותם עד החג עצמו", סיפר מקור מתוך הארמון לפני ימים ספורים. "כמעט בלתי אפשרי מבחינתם להיות באנגליה כרגע", הוסיף מקור אחר מתוך הארמון והתייחס ללחצים של הארי ומייגן מול כלי התקשורת.

This evening, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the annual #WellChildAwards in London. WellChild aims to ensure every child and young person living with serious health needs has the best chance to thrive with the support and medical care needed in the comfort of their own home. The Duke of Sussex became Patron of WellChild in 2007, and last year both The Duke and Duchess attended the awards to honour the children and families that WellChild supports.
